Customer Survey

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. "What should I look for when purchasing a faucet?"
A. Some of the things you should be considering are: Is the unit easy to repair and replace parts? Will parts be available? Is it a true "washerless” product? Where is it made and is the manufacturer reputable? What type of warranty am I getting? How long has this model been made?

Q. "What does washerless mean?"
A. In washerless faucets, the control of the water flow is done by a cartridge or arrangement of seals that allow water to flow when the holes or ports are lined up. Water flow is basically sheared off, causing less friction than with regular faucets. Unlike regular faucets which utilize washers, extra strength of pressure on the handle will not help stop the water flow. There are many designs of washerless cartridges, some of which can be very expensive. Ceramic cartridges have been around for twenty years, and are growing in popularity. Ceramic cartridges tend to last longer than other types but can cost a lot more to replace.

Q. "Do all models of kitchen faucets fit all kitchen sinks?"
A. Generally, the standard distance between hot and cold inlets or the mounting hardware for both single and two-handle kitchen model faucets is 8" inches. However, there can be some exceptions, such as when dealing with foreign made faucets or sinks. It is always a good idea to check sizes first before placing your order.

Q. "Which faucet finish is most durable?”
A. The most durable finish on the market is triple plated chrome.

Q. "Can I replace a two handled kitchen faucet with a single handled model or vice versa?"
A. Absolutely. Standard-size sink openings and faucet dimensions are used throughout the U.S. plumbing industry and single and double handled models can be used interchangeably.

Q. "Can a hose spray model be installed in a 3-hole kitchen sink?"
A. Sure, many faucet manufacturers offer faucets designed for one or two holes. Most common sink configurations have 3, 4 or 5 mounting holes on the sink top. Look under the sink to determine the number of holes in your sink because the holes may be covered by an existing faucet. Also, note that once you have purchased a faucet without a sprayer that you generally can't just add a sprayer. You need to decide before you purchase a kitchen faucet whether you want a sprayer or not.

Q. "How are expensive faucets different than cheaper models?"
A. Some faucets are made with higher quality material such as solid brass, which provides a superior look, performance, and durability. More expensive faucets will generally last longer and be more reliable. Paying more however doesn't guarantee value. It is a good idea to do research on the manufacturer you are considering buying.
